On this page you will find all the information you need about joining the
Highland Geek Council.
Being a member of this group will provide your business or organisation the opportunity to expand your customer/membership base, to help grow an amazing community of like-minded people, and to support and celebrate geek culture.
Membership Requirements
Monthly meetings are held to decide the focus of the group, discuss member issues, plan community events, and provide a space for networking. The time and place for these meetings will be communicated via email, at least two weeks prior, except in rare circumstances.
To be considered a full member in good standing, a delegate from your business or organisation must:

attend a minimum of 4 (four) monthly meetings per year

attend at least 1 (one) All-Hands meeting (to be held every 6 months) per year

complete a minimum of 2 (two) participation hours per month

dues must be paid in full (see Membership Pricing for dues schedule)
Participation hours include activities such as volunteering at HGC events, fellow members’ events, helping a member when they need it, or otherwise working to promote and assist the HGC in its mission.
All full members in good standing will be eligible to vote in elections for the Council of Elders (our 7-member governing body), run for election themselves, and vote on any council matters that require it. Full members may also serve on committees to plan HGC events or an advertising campaign, and will have opportunities to advertise and promote their business or organisation.
If you aren't sure it's for you, you can join as a provisional member (just put in the application below) and come along to the next monthly meeting. We'll be happy to have you join us!

Membership Pricing
The annual dues for a membership are based on the size of your business or organisation (the employees/group admins, not your member base).
We use your dues to book meeting spaces, put on community events, and for other needs as decided by the council.
All memberships automatically renew, unless cancelled.

Application to Join
the Highland Geek Council
This application to join the Highland Geek Council will be reviewed by our Council of Elders to determine the suitability of your business or organisation to the group. If you are successful, we will send you a link for the payment of dues.
What we are looking for:
Businesses and organisations of any size that are geek-related or promote geek culture in their area. Examples include shops selling movie, game, or book memorabilia, a café holding board game or D&D sessions, an artist making fan art, organisations for cosplay, anime, or other dedicated appreciation. If you're passionate about something, you probably belong here.
